Tomokazu Iwabuchi is an urban design researcher and the founder & CEO of Urbanix Co., Ltd.

Born in Fukuoka in 1996, Tomokazu IWABUCHI is an urban designer and researcher exploring how cities can serve as stages for creation. He is pursuing doctoral research at Kyushu University on the accumulation processes of small businesses in fringe areas and innovation districts, seeking to understand how people and urban space interact to foster vibrant and inclusive communities. In 2023, he founded Urbanix Co., Ltd. to translate these insights into practical solutions for urban challenges, including redevelopment, regional revitalization, and smart city initiatives.

Tomokazu’s interest in wellbeing stems from his belief that the spaces we inhabit shape our sense of connection, creativity, and belonging. He is motivated by creating urban environments that support long-term wellbeing, where people feel empowered to engage, experiment, and thrive. He approaches his work with curiosity and openness, welcoming conversations with anyone interested in exploring how cities can nurture both individual and community wellbeing.
